NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Today Adam Acquistapace of Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket is talking about zinfandel. Zinfandels are from California, and the three best growing regions of Zinfandel in California are Lodi, Dry Creek, and Rockpile.

Lodi, which is southern in California, is known for some really old vines, and it has some of the best Zinfandel in California. However, the best part is that it isn’t very expensive. You can grab some good ones for around $20.

Frei Brothers Dry Creek Zinfandel

For the second wine, he talks about Frei Brothers Dry Creek Zinfandel. Dry Creek is known for great Zinfandel located in Sonoma. These wines aren’t quite as heavy as the ones from Lodi, but they are a little bit spicier because of Dry Creek being slightly cooler.

Third is Seghesio Rockpile Vineyard. If you ever wanted to splurge on zinfandel, there is a very small American Viticultural Area. You can look for “Rockpile” on the label. This is one of the better regions in the whole world to grow zinfandel, being a little bit more northern in Sonoma.

Next time you go shopping for some zinfandel, look for Lodi, Dry Creek, and Rockpile.
