NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- There’s a good chance you’ve seen the boat in Jackson Square right in front of the Presbytere—The Louisiana State Museum.

The boat is a Hurricane Katrina rescue effort relic that’s been featured on CNN, ABC News, and News with a Twist just to name a few of the news outlets who have told the story.

Kenny Bellau used the boat during the Katrina flooding to save more than 400 people!  Bellau said he’s heard that the museum wants to remove the boat, but the museum tells us that exterior renovations which are underway could force them to remove the boat, but not necessarily permanently, and no decision has been made.

In any case, Bellau has started a “Save The Boat” petition to send to the Governor.
