NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – More than two dozen New Orleans musicians will come together this Friday night at the Joy Theater to celebrate the 40th anniversary of The Last Waltz.

The Band’s final performance after 16 trailblazing years, the original Last Waltz was recorded by Martin Scorsese and made into a legendary concert film.

The upcoming anniversary show will occur exactly 40 years to the day after the original event.

Jake Eckert of the New Orleans Suspects has pulled together an amazing lineup of New Orleans musicians, including Dave Malone and Reggie Scanlan from the Radiators, The Honey Island Swamp Band, the Bonerama horns, John “Papa” Gros, Papa Mali, Terence Higgins, Ron Johnson, Darcy Malone, Billy Iuso, Robert Mercurio, and many more.

From Up on Cripple Creek to The Weight and many more classics, the musicians will celebrate the unique talents of The Band and its lasting musical legacy.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show will start at 8:30 p.m. Expect a full night of music with an array of special guests.
