NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Pioneering musician Herbert Hardesty will be laid to rest this Saturday, December 10, in his hometown of New Orleans.

Hardesty passed away on December 3 in Las Vegas, according to his family. He was 91 years old.

Hardesty played tenor saxophone and trumpet. He joined up with Dave Bartholomew in the late 1940s, recording several songs.

He worked with Fats Domino throughout the heyday of The Fat Man’s legendary career, touring the world with Domino’s band and contributing to many legendary albums.

Hardesty’s services will be held at Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Ave., on Saturday, Dec 10. The viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m., and services will start at 11:00 a.m.
