Ama, La. (WGNO)- Since the champ passed away last Friday, we’ve been hearing stories about locals who were touched in some way by the life of Muhammad Ali.
Glen Singleton was such a big fan that he built a shrine to the three-time world champion in his home in Ama. Photographer Ed Matthews visited with Singleton and found out why he made the greatest of all shrines.
Singleton says in part, ” At the age of 7 years old I saw Cassius Clay win the 1960 Olympics, and from that day I was anxious to meet Muhammad Ali.”
Singleton met the champ on many occasions, and was even invited to Ali’s 70th birthday party in Las Vegas.
Singleton left today to attend the Muhammad Ali funeral set for Friday in Louisville.
