Hollywood South News with Jabari: The stage for The Passion goes up in Woldenberg Park

The Passion

The Passion is like no other performance in the world. Live music, drama, film, crowd participation all on live TV.  The show will be in the U.S. for the first time and will be telecasted from New Orleans.

Tickets are completely sold out to attend the event, but you’re able to tune in Sunday on Fox.

Tyler Perry will host and narrate while Jencarlos Canela will play Jesus Christ in the Performance. Other casts include Grammy winner Trisha Yearwood as Mary, Mother of Jesus and Seal will play the role of Pontius Pilate. Prince Royce will play the disciple Peter and Chris Daughtry as Judas.

Most of the disciples are local actors.

Actor Oscar Gale says, “This is my hometown. It’s a cool thing that they brought it here. It’s a city that needs some love, and it is a story of love. It’s a 2,000-year-old story of Jesus’ last hours on earth and his last hours spent with the disciples.”

Gale also owns The Social Club barber shop located near Lakeside Mall.

WGN’s Underground sets a record!

More than 2.3 million viewers tuned into WGN America for the premiere of Underground last week.

The newly hit drama was the network’s highest-rated scripted program ever! Underground ratings were ten times the network’s primetime average season to date.

The TV series was shot in Hollywood South around the Baton Rouge area. Most of the filming took place at Celtic Studios sound stage.
