‘Jurassic World’
It’s finally here! What may be the summer’s biggest blockbuster, Jurassic World, opened Thursday and was shot on location in New Orleans. It’s the 3rd sequel to the 1993 classic Jurassic Park directed by Steven Spielberg.
Actor James DuMont has been in over 115 films like Speed, Catch me if You Can, War of the Worlds and recently relocated to New Orleans. DuMont who plays Hal Osterly, one of the corporate sponsors in Jurassic World says, “It’s been so long since the first Jurassic Park and how much technology and DNA and splicing and all these things. Now we get to kind of explore all of it!”
New Orleans family owned theater the Prytania Theatre will be among hundreds of theaters screening Jurassic World this weekend.

‘Pitch perfect 1 & 2’ bring big bucks to Hollywood South!
Dozens of projects are shot in Hollywood South each year. So how much money does a production spend in the state of Louisiana?
Pitch Perfect 1 & 2, which were shot in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, had a combined $40 million expenditures in Louisiana while filming. And both films employed almost 800 Louisiana workers.
As far as hotel room nights, the Pitch Perfect franchise purchased over 7,000 rooms during shooting.
Pitch Perfect 2 also constructed a complete concert stage in Highland Park in Baton Rouge and hosted over 3,000 extras nightly for nearly one week.
The Pitch Perfect Franchise is a homegrown original film series from Universal Pictures and Gold Circle Entertainment that was produced by Gold Circle and Brownstone Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures worldwide.
