R.I.P. Wes Craven

A man well-known for making you scream died Sunday, Wes Craven’s family confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.

Carven defined the horror genre with the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise, and later deconstructed and redefined it with “Scream.”

Wes was credited for being the executive producer on MTV’s show “Scream.” The season finale for “Scream” will pay a tribute to Craven, an MTV spokesperson said.

Carven had also written and planned on directing “Thou Shalt Not Kill” for WGN America, according The Hollywood Report.
