NEW YORK, N.Y. (WGNO) — She’s outspoken, and she’s an Oscar winner (with a second nomination). In an exclusive interview with WGNO’s News With A Twist Hollywood South reporter Jabari Thomas, Whoopi Goldberg weighs in on the debate over boycotting the Academy Awards.
Jabari visited the set of Goldberg’s show The View and sat down with the outspoken star. The interview follows calls from stars Spike Lee and Jada Pinkett Smith to boycott the Oscars because too few people of color are up for awards this year.
Goldberg wonders about the message that stars who boycott the awards are sending to Chris Rock who will host the program.
She also pitches a solution to the issue of getting more Oscars into the hands of people of color. And her idea involves Hollywood South.
