NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – It’s a tradition in New Orleans. Families spend Christmas at Broussard’s in the French Quarter.
Broussard’s first opened its doors in 1920. That’s when local chef Joseph Broussard got married and moved with his wife into a mansion on Conti Street.
That’s the same location as the restaurant today.
The Broussards lived there their entire lives. And from their tradition comes the five-star, family run restaurant where families like to spend Christmas and other holidays dining.
Broussard’s has always offered a mix of Creole cuisine with classic French food.
The Broussard’s loved all things French. In fact, the Broussard’s bee logo was Napoleon’s personal emblem.
Broussard’s is the place where famous guests have gathered. Tennessee Williams and William Faulkner have all played a role in the history of Broussard’s.
And the history keeps happening today as WGNO News with a Twist features reporter Wild Bill Wood wants to show you on Christmas Day at Broussard’s.
The man in charge of the kitchen is executive chef Neal Swidler. Chef Neal has more than 20 years of experience in executive level restaurant management and concept development. He spent many years in some of the best kitchens in New Orleans, including Chef Emeril Lagasse’s.
