If you end up Kenner and are looking for a place that is a dining triple-threat, there is a place on Veterans Memorial Blvd that is just that. The American Pie Diner is mastering breakfast, lunch and dinner. We stopped in to talk about their menu and got a taste of offerings that will truly please the masses.

At American Pie Diner you will find plenty of things that are classic diner offerings. Whether it was breakfast plates like pancakes, omelets and scrambles or classic lunch offerings like club sandwiches, burgers and salads to dinner favorites like Chicken Fried steak or meatloaf the food is both classic diner and All-American.

The fine folks at American Pie Diner served up a table-full of eats. We started with a Club Sandwich that is textbook Club Sandwich. A triple-decker piled high with bacon, ham, turkey and topped with Swiss and American cheese plus tomatoes, lettuce and mayo. I am a huge fan of the Club and this one hit all the right notes. It was served up with golden french fries that are a great side for such a simple straightforward sandwich. We also ate a pulled-pork sandwich that was just the right amount of pork and sauce topped with fried shoestring onions. WOW!

When it comes to satisfying a sweet-tooth, the American Pie Diner has an arsenal of tasty treats to serve its customers. A sweet selection from the breakfast menu is the Banana-nut Fritters. These are not as much fritters as they are a decadently tasty stack of banana pancakes that taste like fresh banana-nut bread. I could have eaten a dozen of those awesome pancakes. With a name like American Pie Diner, we have to talk about the wide selection of pies they offer. On any given day, you can find two to three types of fruit pie along with classic cream pie flavors like Coconut, Peanut Butter, Banana and others. Save room for desert because the pies certainly shouldn’t be missed. I had the Cherry and the Peanut Butter Cream Pie. They were both good. The cherry pie had a nice flaky crust and a sweet and tart cherry filling. The Peanut Butter pie had a layer of chocolate on the bottom and a handsome dollop of whipped cream on top. The Peanut Butter filling had a good flavor and the crust was just right. American Pie Diner is open 24/7 so there’s no excuse to not get over there and try it out.
