NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans city leaders say the time for warnings has passed.

Seven bars are now shut down following alleged COVID-19 violations.

In an announcement today, the city said bars must submit plans outlining how they will operate and fully comply with COVID-19 guidelines.

Friday night, Cadi Corner, Red Eye, the District and TJ Quills were closed.

Enforcement agents said the front doors were locked and other entrances were being used after hours, alcohol was being served after 11:00 P.M. and people were not wearing masks or social distancing.

On Saturday, agents closed SiNai Gourmet Restaurant, Fifth Quarter Bar and G7 Event Hall.

The city says they found similar violations and at one location, a guard tried to draw his weapon on enforcement agents.

Peter Bowen with the Office of Business and External Services said, “We know there are other bad actors out there, we know that we have more to do and we have continued support and additional help from the State ATC, the State Fire Marshal, NOPD. We will continue this week and up through the weekend and Mardi Gras as the additonal restrictions are put in place to maintain compliance.”

The city also found multiple safety and fire violations and will present cases to the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control. Pending the outcome, some businesses could have their liquor licenses revoked.
