PORT FOURCHON, La. (WKRG) — While members from U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Houma were out conducting assessments in Port Fourchon Saturday, they came across an injured pelican.

Coast Guard members said the pelican was unable to fly and had fallen over in the middle of a road.

The Coast Guard crew was able to safely recover the pelican and transported it to a wildlife rehab center.
