Robert O’Shields has been with WGNO-TV since 2007. He is a New Orleans Press Club winner in 2007 and AP award winner in 2005.
Robert is a graduate of Troy University in Troy, Ala. majored in Broadcast Journalism. After college, Robert became the Sports Reporter/Photographer for WAKA in Montgomery, Ala. from 2004-2007. Covering SEC football is no stranger to Robert. His beat at WAKA was covering Auburn and Alabama 365 days a year. He understands how important college football is to the south. He also understands the importance of high school sports in the City of New Orleans. A letterman in football for Hall of Fame coach Bill Bacon at Enterprise High School in Enterprise, Alabama Robert learned the game of football from coach Bacon and his staff. Robert currently helps is alum mater as a member of the Enterprise E Club, an organization that helps the football program.
When he is away from the camera, Robert enjoys spending time with his fiancée, Ashley. They enjoy catching a Pelicans game or two. Robert has been a New Orleans Pelicans season ticket holder since 2008. His favorite sport is baseball. His two favorite teams are the Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners. He also enjoys hockey where you can catch him singing The Fratellis’s “Chelsea Dagger” after the Chicago Blackhawks score a goal.
