Jack Culotta, Jr.

Jack Culotta, Jr., is a sports reporter and multimedia photographer at WGNO-TV Channel 26 News in New Orleans, Louisiana. Culotta was born and raised in New Orleans and is the youngest of six, having five older sisters with two sets of twins (Katie, Genny & Courtney, Emily and Melanie, and then Jack).

He graduated in 2013 from Jesuit High School of New Orleans, where he earned leadership roles in student council and the Sodality and served as captain of the golf team. As a sophomore, Culotta was a member of Jesuit’s 2011 LHSAA State Championship team.

Culotta accepted an academic and athletic scholarship from Spring Hill College (SHC) in Mobile, Alabama. In 2017, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Arts (Journalism). While at SHC, he started his own sports show which featured a segment called “Jack of All Trades,” where he competed against Badger student-athletes in order to give more media attention to the college’s sports program.

He was a Badger TV leader sophomore through senior years: sports anchor for weekly show, web editor for SHC Media website, and sports editor for The Springhillian. During college, Culotta worked internships at WKRG-TV in Mobile, Ala., WDSU-TV in New Orleans, and Saints Training Camp.

After earning his degree, Culotta worked in non-profit communications and development for five years at Jesuit High School (2017-2020) and Reconcile New Orleans (2020-2022). It was toward the end of his non-profit journey where he began to chase a dream to work in sports.

His path to TV was not a traditional route. He accepted a position as Sales Director and Digital Sports Reporter for an upstart company (Boot Krewe Media, LLC) where he built a digital network and podcast called Talk Culotta, where he “talks a lotta” sports. Since 2022, Jack has produced and edited sports reports and live podcasts on the New Orleans Saints, Pelicans, Loyola Basketball’s ’22 National Championship, LSU/Tulane/UNO Athletics, and LHSAA prep sports through freelance writer positions for NOLA.com and Crescent CitySports.com. His podcast covers sports betting, golf, volleyball, rugby, and other untelevised events while featuring special guests through a native lens of New Orleans, a city that continues to recover, restore, and rally behind its sports teams. Talk Culotta Sports’ Featured Guests include Saints kicker Wil Lutz, LSU quarterback Myles Brennan, baseball legend Will Clark, volleyball star Kristen Nuss, PGA golfer Chris DiMarco, and other local figures like Mike Hoss, Jeff Duncan, Ryan Griffin, Rick George, Bobby Hebert, and Kelly Gibson. His show can be followed on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other podcast apps.

Jack Culotta is active on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook (@TalkCulotta) and can be reached at jculotta@digital-stage.wgno.com.
