Hank Allen

Chief Meteorologist Hank Allen comes to New Orleans from Sioux City, Iowa where he worked as the morning meteorologist for three years at the ABC affiliate, KCAU-TV.

During his time in Iowa, Hank forecasted what he says is the most unpredictable weather he has ever seen. In just five months, there was a temperature swing from -16 to 103 degrees!

Forecasting a wide range of weather helped Hank to grow as a meteorologist. He covered everything from snowstorms to tornadoes. Hank is a member of the American Meteorological Society, and has earned the CBM Seal as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist.

While he enjoyed his time in the Midwest, Hank was happy to get back to the south when he moved to Louisiana — he is a native of Georgia and considers himself a southern boy at heart.

Hank attended college at Mississippi state university where he earned his degree in broadcast meteorology with a minor in communications. While at MSU, Hank traveled to Louisiana to cover Hurricane Lili and Tropical Storm Isidore.

Hank is an avid sports fan and in his spare time can usually be found watching some sort of sporting event. He loves college basketball and football, and is cheering on his Bulldogs every chance he gets. He also roots for the Atlanta Braves and Falcons, but we’re slowly turning him into a Saints fan. He also enjoys working out, as well as storm chasing and eating good food.
