Curt Sprang

Hello everyone, and thanks for checking out my bio page.

I’ve been with WGNO since its first newscast as an ABC station in March of 1996. I arrived in New Orleans as a single guy who’d worked in television newsrooms in Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Iowa. I met my wife in New Orleans, started a family here, and now Louisiana is my home.

When I’m not crunching deadlines, anchoring newscasts, or posting stories to the web, I’m spending as much time as I can with my family. My son is in elementary school, and my daughter is an LSU Tiger.

My wife and I are big animal lovers. We also enjoy spending time at the beaches along the coast. Our favorite trips are when we can take our kids somewhere new.

I like to jog and hit the gym, swim and even skateboard to burn off some of these New Orleans food calories. My passion for news is rivaled only by my passion for barbecuing and grilling in the backyard.

During my television news career, I’ve covered some of the biggest news events of our time including the Luby’s Cafeteria massacre, Oklahoma City bombing, Branch Davidian Standoff, 9/11 attack in New York, and of course, Hurricane Katrina.

I’m an Emmy Award-winning reporter who has been named the Louisiana Associated Press Reporter of the Year three times. I’ve also won several other AP and New Orleans Press Club awards. I enjoy letting people tell their stories in one of the most unique areas of the country.

If you have a good story to tell, I’d love to hear from you. Send me an email at curt@digital-stage.wgno.com!
