Governor Bobby Jindal signed a bill into law that will place additional restrictions on how EBT benefits can be spent.

The new law prohibits the program’s funds from being spent at adult-oriented entertainment stores, liquor stores, and nail salons.

Recipients who violate the law face a one-year suspension from the program for a first violation.  A second violation could bring a two-year suspension.  A third violation could result in permanent disqualification.

Retailers who violate the law will face fines starting at $500.
