KENNER, LA – On Tuesday, a man was killed when an Amtrak train struck the vehicle he was in.
The accident occurred around 2:20 P.M. at the intersection of Kenner Avenue and Clay Street.
Police say the woman driving attempted to go around a crossing guard.
That is when the Amtrak train slammed into the passenger side of the pickup truck.
The male passenger was ejected from the truck and was pronounced deceased at hospital.
His name will be released after notifications are made.
The driver is listed in critical condition.
No passengers on the train were injured.
The train did not derail and has been released.
