NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD and FBI have arrested the two men involved in a bank robbery in Algiers.

Only minutes after the robbery, the NOPD arrested 25-year-old Eugene Anthony Lewis.

Further investigation led FBI agents to Lewis’ accomplice, 23-year-old John Allen Weldon.

The First Bank and Trust, at 4550 General DeGaulle Drive was robbed around 2 P.M. on February 5.

Witnesses say two males armed with weapons, entered the bank and demanded money from the teller counter.

The robbers obtained an unknown amount of money and fled the scene on foot.
