UPDATE:  The Orleans Parish School Board is urging schools to delay the start of the school day until 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1, but individual schools may open their doors earlier.  Here are some of those schools:

ALGIER CHARTER SCHOOLS:   Doors open at 10:30 a.m.   Programming starts at 11:30 a.m.

AUDUBON (Uptown and Gentilly campuses:  Staff report at 10:30 a.m.       Before Care and Breakfast is cancelled.

BEN FRANKLIN HIGH: School opens at 10 a.m. for student drop-off, cafeteria opens for service at 10:30 am., classes start at 11 a.m.

HOMER PLESSY CHARTER:  Bus pickup delayed 3.5 hours, staff report at 10:30 a.m.

HYNES CHARTER: Bus pickup: 10 a.m.,students should report between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m.    Pre-K class is cancelled for Thursday, Nov. 1.   All before-school care and breakfast is cancelled for all grades.   5th grade StarBase program for 5G and 5D is cancelled.   Dismissal and after-care will take place as normal

INTERNATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL OF LOUISIANA (IHSNO):  Bus pick up is three hours later than normal, faculty and staff arrive at 10:30 a.m.

INTERNATION SCHOOL OF LOUISIANA (ISL):   Dixon and Westbank campuses:  Staff reports at 10 a.m.Students at 11 a.m.  Uptown campus: Staff reports at 10:30 a.m.  Students at 11:30 a.m.

MORRIS JEFF CHARTER:   Faculty report at 10 a.m.,  high school students report at 11 a.m., elementary and middle school students report at 11:15 a.m.

NEW ORLEANS MATH AND SCIENCE HIGH: Doors open at 11 a.m. but classes won’t start until 11:30 a.m.

WARREN EASTON CHARTER:  Staff report at 11:30 a.m. Students should report at noon; dismissal will be at 3:30 p.m.

JEFFERSON CHARTER SCHOOLS:

KENNER DISCOVERY HEALTH SCIENCES ACADEMY:  Staff reports at 10 a.m., students report at 10:15 a.m.

METAIRIE – Schools across the area will start later than usual tomorrow in anticipation of severe weather.

Schools in Tangipahoa Parish will start two hours late, and so will Northshore Charter Schools, according to school officials.

St. John the Baptist Parish Schools will start three hours later, and so will St. Charles Parish Schools.

Students in Washington Parish will be asked to report to school two hours late on November 1.

Annunciation School in Bogalusa will open at 10 a.m.

Severe weather is expected to roll across south Louisiana beginning around 1 a.m. and lasting through the morning hours.
