METAIRIE, La. — The Bonnabel Boulevard home where Metairie tow truck driver Lee “Big Lee” Martin lived — and died — is on the market, along with everything inside it.
The home at 615 Bonnabel Boulevard is listed through local realtor Matthew Grass.
The asking price for the house is $349,900– but Martin’s love for LSU memorabilia will be lagniappe. Grass says Martin’s family asked him to leave hundreds of LSU-themed items in the house without adding any additional price to the sale.
“I’m a realtor,” Grass told WGNO, “not an estate broker.” He said he would have no idea how to appraise all of Martin’s mementos.
That includes the purple and gold casket that held Martin’s body at his funeral. Grass says Martin was later cremated.
Martin’s sole heir, according to Grass, is a sister who lives in Texas. Grass says that with no one nearby to manage the sale of the house and the contents, the family decided to sell everything together.
Grass says he’s hoping to get a police detail on Sunday for the first open house because he knows that many people may want to tour the house just to see what’s in it. Grass says he “understands their curiosities.” In addition to the LSU items, Grass says Martin also collected movie memorabilia, including giant posters of Marilyn Monroe and John Wayne.
The open house will be Sunday from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
On May 5, Martin was allegedly shot and killed in his front yard by a neighbor, 78-year-old Wayne Higgins. The two had been feuding for years, according to the sheriff’s office.
A grand jury indicted Higgins on a second-degree murder charge last week.
