FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WGNO) – Bigger than Carnival, larger than Princess, the Royal Caribbean has now welcomed it’ newest cruise ship to the United States, the Harmony of the Seas.

Arriving in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida  from Europe last Wednesday, the ship had its naming ceremony and champagne toast Thursday, November 10th, before setting sail on its first cruise out of the United States.

Miami-Dade teacher Brittany Affolter was named the Godmother of the ship, and presented the ship’s christening along with the CEO of Royal Caribbean.

The ship is a sight to see, dwarfing all other ships at port, with 15 decks, two water slides, a zipline, mini golf, and much more. Harmony of the seas is 226,963 gross registered tons and 1,188 feet and can host up to 6,780 guests at full capacity. It comes complete with shopping, fine dining, and several shows each evening. It includes seven “neighborhoods” including a Boardwalk, and a simulation of New York’s Central Park.
