NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Airlines are closely monitoring Hurricane Matthew, already canceling thousands of flights. As for Louis Armstrong International Aiport, several flights were canceled Thursday due to the hurricane.

As of 10:55 a.m. Thursday, a Spirit flight and a Southwest flight to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, have been canceled. A Southwest flight to Tampa has been canceled as well.

Three American Airlines flights to Miami have been canceled.

Flights to Orlando from United, Allegiant and Southwest – also canceled.

According to flightaware.com, roughly 2,300 flights have been canceled since Wednesday. That number’s expected to grow throughout Thursday. About 1,200 flights have already been canceled for Friday.
