NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)-No other New Orleans female rappers have achieved the national successes of Mia X.  Of course that was during the heyday of Master P’s No Limit Records, and she was the boss lady.

We got a chance to hang out with Mia on the fishing pond, a place she’s no stranger to.  Mia told us, “I used to put the worm on the hook for my grandfather, that was my favorite part. (Laughs)

For the first time in 16 years The No Limit crew, including Master P, Mystikal, and Silkk the Shocker have been touring.

Mia says this tour has special meaning, “I consider it a blessing to link up with my fans, you know, of so many years. Now the fans, they come out with their children,- and they bring them to let them know what the whole No Limit movement was about”

These days Mia spends time running The Sportsman’s Corner Bar in Central city.  “The bar is pretty popular, among the whole cultural scene, as far as the way we do second linin’, and the way we do masquerading,” according to Mia.

She was also recently a part of the VH-1 Hip Hop honors of Women in Hip Hop.

Mia says, “Queen Latifah showed me so much love because she wanted me to come there and be a part of her set because she wanted to honor a lot of the ladies who had made records for many many years.”

Now Mia and I were fishing in City Park, but ‘Beware of Alligators’ sign let us know we weren’t necessarily safe.  Mia had a plan for that too, “Let me just tell you, if I see any big ripples I’m dropping the cane pole, I’m jumping over the chair, y’all gon see some Jackie Joyner Kersee going on around here, let me see some big ripples…all I want from a gator is a pair shoes or a purse”

Mia X has upcoming dates at the Treme Sidewalk Steppers King and Queen Party on October 22nd, November 5th in Dallas, and another date November with the band at Preservation Hall.  Another leg of the No Limit all stars also resumes in November.
