NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The Pokemon Go craze might have gone too far. A plaster, paper mache statue of Pikachu was mysteriously erected in a New Orleans park Sunday. A photo of a statue was first posted on Reddit.

The statue is in Parkerson Place in the Lower Garden District. That’s the small grassy park in the middle of Terpsichore Street in between Prytania and Coliseum streets.

The Pikachu statue stands on a cement block which features the Pokemon ball on it. The hashtag #pokemonument can be found in the cement at the foot of the statue

The statue appears to cover up where an old fountain used to be. Below is a screenshot of the location from Google Street View taken in March.
