NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Just in time for Mother’s Day weekend, the 2nd Annual Brennan’s Turtle Parade took the streets of Vieux Carre.

This parade pays tribute to the Brennan Family’s purchase of the now famous pink stucco building. When Ralph Brennan and Terry White bought the building years ago, they had no idea they would also inherit a family of ten turtles who inhabited the fountain pool. Hence, the Turtle Parade came to be!

This year Haley Bittermann, Executive Chef Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group, will be the Grand Marshall of the parade while Avery Kyle, Baton Rouge native chef, and contestant on MasterChef Junior, will be honored as the Junior Grand Marshall.

No need to worry about the welfare of these turtles! Although Brennan’s serves up some of the best turtle soup in the city, the turtles in the “slowest second line on earth” have been pardoned for the occasion.
