NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The city of New Orleans and music lovers from around the world paid their respects to R&B legend Allen Toussaint Friday.
The two-hour tribute at the Orpheum Theater featured a mix of Toussaint penned songs and traditional tunes fit for the occasion. Everyone had words of love for the late singer who died suddenly earlier this month while performing in Madrid, Spain.
Jimmy buffet to Elvis Costello to Boz Scaggs joined New Orleans giants like Irma Thomas and Dr. John for the first class send off to the New Orleans music legend.
