KENNER, La. (WGNO) — Republican Mike Yenni won the Jefferson Parish president race. He is currently serving as Kenner’s mayor. He has led the city of Kenner since 2010.

Yenni won 52% of the vote.

Elton Lagasse came in second with 37%.

Five candidates ran for Jefferson Parish president.

Republicans Vincent Joseph De Salvo, Jr. and Robin Daldegan Christiana also hoped to win the bid.

Lagasse came in second with 37% of the vote.

“Al” Morella ran listed as “other.”

Republican Joseph Larocca withdrew from the race earlier.

Yenni’s family has a history serving Jefferson Parish. His grandfather, Joseph S. Yenni, and his uncle, Michael J. Yenni, are both former Jefferson Parish presidents.

According to his bio on the Kenner city website, Yenni has been involved in civic service since he was 15-years-old when he started volunteering in the Jefferson Parish Citizens Affairs Office. It’s a department he later came to head.

Yenni also served as the chief administrative officer for Kenner under Mayor Ed Muniz.
