NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – If you spotted a half-dozen jets flying overhead on Tuesday, then you caught the Breitling Jet Team.

The Breitling Jet Team made a fuel stop at the Lakefront Airport before taking off to an air show in Florida. The French jet team is at the tail end of their American tour.

One of the pilots said he landed his dream job about a decade ago. “It began when I was 10 or 12 years old. I began to build models,” said Patrick Marchand. “Then I entered the French Air Force where I stayed for 21 years. And then I entered the team in 2004.”

The Breitling jets cruise and perform their aerobatics at about 400 mph. However, those jets can reach speeds of up to 600 mph.
