The Rummel Raiders have no cupcake game Friday Night against defeating Division two State Champs University High. On paper the Cubs are in a lower classification than the Raiders but Head Coach Jay Roth says don’t judge the book by its cover.

“They are a 3A school with 5A talent” says Roth. “They have a good offense all around and need stop them for all four quarters.”

Since Head Coach Chad Mahaffey stepped foot on the U-High campus the Cubs have had a successful season. The past two season the Cubs have played for the state title. In 2013 University were runner ups in the Division two state title game falling short to John Curtis. The following season John Curtis moved up to Division one, University capitalized by going a perfect 13-0 and crowned state champions. Mahaffey notes what better way to start season and the true test of your team with a week one match-up with one of the best teams in the state.

“They are coached by a great coach in Jay (Roth) and we’re excited to have them come to our home and start the season off. It will be physical game that players and fans will enjoy” says Mahaffey.
