BRIDGE CITY, La. (WGNO) — Jefferson Parish deputies released the names and photos of two teenagers who are believed to be on the run following their escape from the Bridge City Center for Youth on Friday.
The center serves as a rehabilitation facility for minors who break the law.
One of the escaped teens is identified as 15-year-old Riynell Nixon. Deputies say he has a history of robbery and assault. The other is identified as 16-year-old Rashad Seals. Deputies say he was incarcerated after committing six burglaries.
According to the JPSO, workers at the center responded to a disturbance in one of the dorm areas. Once calm was restored, the teens were discovered missing. Deputies did not go so far as to say the disturbance served as a prearranged diversion.
Along with Jefferson Parish deputies, center workers tell WGNO News that state police and U.S. marshals are also assisting in the search. A command center is set up inside the facility to help coordinate the effort.
After searching the building and perimeter, deputies say a hole was found in the center’s fence that the teens may have used to escape.
If you see the escaped teens, call 911.
