Thinking about trying a new bottle of wine? Adam Acquistapace of Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket highly recommends trying sauvignon blanc.

Sauvignon blanc is a grape variety that originates from France, and is known for producing a crisp, dry, and refreshing wine. Acquistapace describes the wines produced by sauvignon blanc as “clean and crisp” with good character. He goes on to say that “It’s a food wine. It’s a porch sipper” and “It can make some of the best dessert wine on the planet.”

With all the different styles and tastes at Acquistapace’s even Acquistapace himself admitted to us that he got overwhelmed.  “There is great sauvignon blanc from all over the place.” he said. “You have a lighter style California. There is a more flinty and mineral style from the Loire Valley like Sancerre or pouilly-fume, like Lucien Crochet or Dagueneau Pouilly-Fume.”

Acquistapace goes on to talk about the styles of New Zealand, that are rich and expressive with lots of great fruit and lots of flavors. He then explains “If you want a wine that’s really clean, crisp and easy-to-drink, you really can’t go wrong with sauvignon blanc. Whether it be an aperitif or with some oysters or fish or white meats. That good clean acidity cleans your palate, and that’s what you’re looking for.“

Next time you go try grab yourself a bottle of wine, consider sauvignon blanc.
