(WGNO) – Every week couples look forward to “date night.” Adam Acquistapace of Acquistapace’s Covington Supermarket has a few tips for choosing the perfect wine for your much-needed date night.

If you’re getting wine for that special occasion, it’s always smart to try to get the type of wine your guest likes.  But let’s say you’re not sure what kind of wine they like, or maybe they don’t even drink wine. No need to worry, Adam Acquistapace is here to help.

According the Acquistapace, “the ultimate, ultimate date night wine is Banfi Rosa Regale brachetto. ” Though technically a red wine, it has qualities of a white wine. “It’s sparkling and sweet and goes great with chocolate and strawberries.”

Acquistapace recommended two dry rosés, Billecart-Salmon brut rosé, from Champagne, France, and Schramsberg brut rosé, made in the United States.

Acquistapace also suggests a bottle of Moet Nectar. The nectar is a sweeter style, so it’s a demi-sec, not a rosé.

And finally, for those who aren’t sure if they like wine or not, try these sweet, dessert wines. A good tip is to always make sure that your wine is sweeter than your dessert. If your wine is drier than the dessert, the wine will taste bitter.

A good place to start is with the Georg Albrecht Schneider. This is a Riesling spatlese, so it’s very sweet and easy to drink.

For something a little more casual, Acquistapace suggests a wine called New Age.  New Age is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Torrontes from Argentina. Pour this wine over a glass of ice and a squeeze of lime for a very refreshing drink.
