NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A woman is dead and a man is injured after an accident in the West Lake Forest area Monday evening, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
Just before 6:00 p.m., officers were called to the 9300 block of the I-10 Service Road where they discovered a 39-year-old wheelchair-bound woman had been struck by a vehicle.
According to the NOPD, a 43-year-old man was pushing the woman along the westbound lane of the service when a white sedan ran hit the two from behind and continued driving.
The woman sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene while the man suffered minor injuries and refused medical attention.
No further details are available at this time but the NOPD is in the process of investigating the incident. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name after an autopsy is done.
