NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department responded to the scene of a shooting in the St. Roch area Friday (Oct. 14) that left one person dead.

According to officers, the shooting happened near the corner of Franklin Ave and N. Roman Street just after 4:12 p.m. It was there that police found an unresponsive male victim inside a car. Both the victim and the vehicle were struck multiple times by gunfire.

EMS pronounced the victim dead on the scene. His age and identity have not yet been disclosed.

There is no word yet on a suspect or motive. The investigation remains ongoing by the NOPD.
