NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department responded to the scene of a deadly accident in the N.O East area on Friday evening. The incident happened near the intersection of Chef Menteur Highway and Bundy Road.

The NOPD says a man was pronounced dead on the scene when they arrived at the location. Through investigation, detectives determined that the victim was walking northbound across Chef Menteur Highway when he entered the inside westbound travel lane and was struck by multiple vehicles.

The NOPD reported that the vehicles failed to stop and fled the scene. Police are still investigating the incident. The victim’s identity will be released after an autopsy is done and the family is notified.
