(WGNO) – At the end of Election Day a clear winner in the race for district attorney of St. Tammany, Washington parishes could not be called, despite Brian Trainor leading with a sizable amount of votes.

The race is considered open with no clear favorite.

Alan Black (REP) took 17% of votes
Roy Burns (REP) took 16% of votes
Warren Montgomery (REP) took 27% of the votes
Brian Trainor (REP) took 40% of the votes

Trainor told WGNO Tuesday night he feels confident in his campaign. “It’s been a rollercoaster, it’s been a long hard-fought race, I’m thrilled about the race that we’ve run, a positive campaign preaching our message law enforcement protecting and serving our community.”

Trainor is taking a leave of absence from the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office while he runs for DA.
