NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The Emeril Lagasse Foundation is making it possible for you to have a delicious meal and help young people at Cafe Reconcile in Central City.

Cafe Reconcile is a nonprofit organization that’s known for helping at-risk youth learn job skills necessary to make a career in the food and restaurant industry.

The restaurant is having its second “Pay As You Can” day from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Thursday (Nov. 10), and the event is exactly as it sounds.

You can have lunch – fried catfish, kale salad, beans, sweet potato bread pudding and more – and pay whatever they can, even if it’s a dollar or two for a hot meal.

In addition to helping those who may not be normally able to afford a lunch, Cafe Reconcile also hopes that people who can will give a little extra donation for the restaurant or a sponsorship in order to help keep their mentoring program growing.
