NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – The New Breed Brass Band was barely into a 30-day West Coast tour when someone broke into their van and stole all their instruments last week. The band was in Albany, Oregon.

The story has a happy-ish ending, though. A GoFundMe account was set up for the New Orleans band to help pay for new instruments. Their goal was $5,000. So far nearly $7,000 has been given to the band.

“It’s awesome that so many people were willing to help them. They have gained passed their goal, so meaning they will have instruments to continue their tour,” said Jaee Henry. Henry set up the GoFundMe account for the band. Her cousin is a member.

Band leader Jenard Andrews told News With A Twist Host LBJ that a couple of instruments have been recovered. But over the weekend the show went on. The multi-talented band still played a gig trading in brass instruments for bongos, a bass guitar, and a keyboard.
