A 10 foot by 6 foot tiny home is going up in the parking lot behind the Harry Tompson Center.

“The actual house will fit in one parking space in this lot,”  Haiyan Khan, Project Manager with Never Homeless Again, said.

This is the third tiny home for the homeless being built in New Orleans by the Never Homeless Again organization.

“It is about providing a dignified and safe space for the homeless,”  Khan said.

To build one of these homes it costs between $1,500-$1,800.   This project was funded by private donations, and volunteers are the ones putting in the labor.  It will take about 10 days to build, and when its all done, this is it what it will look like…

This home may be tiny in size, but big on heart!

“It really is a chance to help the homeless feel at home, when they’re trying to get back on their feet,” Khan said.

Vicki Judice, Executive Director with the Harry Tompson Center had this to say about homelessness in New Orleans.
