NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – Only in New Orleans would the world famous Blue Dog from artist George Rodrigue get the chance to connect with the world famous Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

WGNO News with a Twist features guy Wild Bill Wood is in the famous French Quarter for the story.

Wild Bill is there to see students from Martin Behrman Elementary School get a special tour of a new exhibition called Rodrigue: Celebrating Music.

After looking, the kids from Martin Behrman got the chance to listen to the Preservation Hall Band.

And wait until you get a look at the piano the band is playing.  It’s a Steinway that artist George Rodrigue used as a canvas.  He painted a Blue Dog right on the Steinway!

As for the art, it’s a selection of musically themed paintings from  George Rodrigue’s collection.  These paintings show just how much he loved music.  His love for music is right up there with his love for paintings.

And here’s the chance now for all of us to be love with all of the above.

You can see Rodrigue: Celebrating Music at Rodrigue Studios.  The location is 730 Royal Street in the French Quarter.  It’s right behind the St. Louis Cathedral.

The show will be showing until May 15.
