METARIE, La. (WGNO) — Kennedy Schmalz is a certified genius. She turned 4-years-old in August, but at the age of 3, Kennedy was admitted into Mensa, the largest and oldest high IQ society in the world.
Her parents first noticed just how smart their child was when Kennedy tested in the 99th percentile on a standard test all student enrolled at Sacred Heart must take.
Kennedy’s mother then began to research groups for intellectual children, and finally submitted Kennedy’s scores to Mensa. She was accepted soon after, making her a certified toddler genius.
During an interview with News With A Twist reporter, Meghan Kluth, Kennedy finished 3 Disney princess puzzles before moving on to teaching Meghan how to use her tablet.
In her aptitude test, Kennedy was playful and announced when she walked into the testing room, “I’m going to be a grown up soon!”
Parents, Carolyn Derbres and Kurt Schmalz, are proud, but their biggest concern is their daughter’s happiness.
“You question if I’m going to make the right choices in the future, is she going to be alienated for being too smart, or will she be a little social butterfly? Will she become successful? You just question everything for her future and so now we’re just trying to think of the best steps for her,” said Derbres.
Kennedy is warm and playful. When asked who Drew Brees is she playfully proclaimed “My father-in-law!” and just like any other girl her age, she has aspirations of being a princess, or a ballerina.
