NEW ORLEANS (WGNO)- UberX officially launched Thursday, giving New Orleans residents expanded economic opportunities and the affordable transportation option, UberX.

Thursday morning, trumpeter Kermit Ruffins, took the very first UberX ride on the New Orleans streets.

General Manger for Uber in Louisiana, Tom Hayes said, “Over the past year, the strong leadership of Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Transportation Committee Chair Jared Brossett and Councilmember Susan Guidry has helped to pave the way for hundreds of new local jobs and more safe, affordable transportation options for the people of New Orleans.”
