BATON ROUGE, La. – A Texas woman traveling through Baton Rouge this week was busted when K9s found a large amount of liquid meth in her trunk.

Officials with the Baton Rouge Police Highway Interdiction Task Force arrested Vanessa Hernandez, 34, of Houston with drug possession Monday.

A Baton Rouge Police spokesperson said officers stopped a passenger bus just after midnight Monday on I-12 between Airline Highway and Sherwood Forest Boulevard. During the stop police told WBRZ a K9 found a suitcase in the luggage compartment which had 36 bottles of liquid meth hidden inside it.

Investigators said the meth had a street value of $700,000. They said it was believed to be one of the biggest meth busts ever undertaken in the U. S.

Investigators booked Hernandez into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
